SI & EMC* A One-Day Crash Course with Lab

This is a full-day training course, presented by an independent expert in high-speed system design. It is NOT a tool class or a free, hour-long Mentor seminar.

The goal of this hands-on course is to teach you how to prevent EMI problems so your designs work reliably, deliver excellent manufacturing yields, and pass FCC / CISPR emissions tests on the first try.

It is hosted by Terry Fox, an EE since 1969, who has years of experience training novices and experts alike in understanding and resolving the high-speed issues that affect PCBs.

Attend this day-long course to learn:

  • What constitutes a proper board stack up
  • Why traces may actually be transmission lines
  • The difference between benign and critical crosstalk
  • Where radiated transmissions come from and how you can control them
  • How to design a bypass capacitor array that will meet a specific set of goals
  • How to reduce ground bounce, common mode noise, cross talk, and EMI – all while saving money
  • SI considerations for FPGAs and multi-gigabit SERDES channels

Who should attend?

  • Electrical Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Senior PCB Designers who are critically interested in getting the design done right the first time
  • NOTE: This is not a class for the SI EMC guru who has been spending 60 hours a week for the last ten years solving these problems

This is a fast moving and challenging class, but anyone conversant with high school math will be able to understand the material. You do not need to know Maxwell's equations by heart or solve differential equations in your head!

Lunch will be provided. Both seating and lab space are limited, so register now to reserve your space. We will call to confirm your attendance and provide directions.

This class could well be the best one-day investment you can make!

* SI = signal integrity
   EMC = electromagnetic compliance
